Would a non alcoholic Bar be a good business idea?

I am a religious man so I don't drink alcohol. also I don't like alcohol so that's another reason I don't drink it. I am trying to start a business but I am trying to gather information to see if the business I want to start would be a success or not. I call it a non bar. It's like a bar except all the drinks have no alcohol in them. you could call it a Christian bar. there would be lots of mixed drinks like margaritas and Italian sodas. I would get very creative. There would be lots of different milk shakes and root beer floats. You know the kinds you have in beer mugs that have the foam on top. would also have some fancy coffees and lattes. It would have the environment like a bar would have. in my mind I could see a lot of teenagers being there. And people looking to go out that are not interested in alcohol. I have put a lot of thought into it but a lot of people told me its a dumb idea. But from what I have seen most people are told that before they start there business. Weather nonbar be a good idea? would you go to one?

sounds like a tea room of coffee bar would be a good plan of direction.

It might be a good idea if you locate it in the proper area and do the proper PR, etc. Just remember, you start at a disadvantage - 80 percent of new restaurants and bars fail within the first 5 years (most within the first two years). Your chances are a bit worse since the places that fail make most of their profit on the adult drinks (much higher markup). The question you have t o answer is what sets your place apart - you don t have alcohol to pull people in (that means no pairing a nice meal with a nice wine), with your coffees and teas, you are competing with Starbucks, etc. who already have an entrenched clientele, non-alcoholic margaritas, etc., are not enough to pull a sufficient number of people in, so you are looking at some other draw (entertainment, etc. which will cost money for the entertainer and the license). Start by writing up a complete business plan and present it to someone from SCORE - they can look at it (for free) and let you know if your assumptions are correct, where the holes in the plan are, etc.

If you do it right it would be a good idea but theres a big chance it could go south.. Nobody wants to chug drinks for a couple hours and talk, they would just talk at home and not bloat their stomachs for no reason. You would have to have more forms of entertainment, and above all like i said it would just have to be done perfectly to be successful.

No because you can get nonalcoholic drinks at a regular bar.
