Why am I receiving a charge to Itunes when I don't have an account with them?

I just checked my bank statement and it says I have a pending charge of $3.50 to Itunes. I don't even have an account with them nor do I have an Apple phone. Is it possible that someone has stolen my debit card information and is using it for Itunes? I had this problem before. I have seen unauthorized purchases to Itunes and I've never had an account with them. Is this common? If you steal credit or debit card information, why would you only use it for Itunes? I had to cancel debit cards in the past because of unauthorized Itunes charges. I fear that if I report this to my bank and cancel my debit card these unauthorized charges to Itunes will happen again in the future.

Yes, your debit card information was probably stolen. iTunes is used to test if the card is still valid. Because the charges are small and a lot of people have iTunes accounts, they usually won't question the charge. The card number will then be sold online or used for a LARGE purchase.

If it has happened to you in the past, you may be using the card at sketch online stores or wherever you use it in person has been hacked or has an employee copying card numbers to sell on line.

Small charges to iTunes, small donations to the Red Cross, or even small charges ($1) on Craigs List are common methods to check if a card is still valid be fore buying gas, going on a shopping spree, or selling the card number.

Better get off your butt and call the bank to let them know. They will handle it from there, like cancelling your current card and issuing you a new one.

Contact your credit card company right now and dispute the bill. As them to change the account information and send you new cards. That will lock out anyone who has the account.

They may forgive you the $3.50 charge. If not, consider a small price to pay to spot a problem and get it resolved before someone runs up hundreds or thousands of dollars on your account.
