How does one travel in new jersey?

I just moved and school starts in two months. I was a New Yorker just a few days ago. Lived in New York for 15 years of my life. You can travel freely there. But now I'm in NJ and I can't seem to get very far without a car. Im only 15 I can't drive obviously. How do you walk on busy roads if there aren't sidewalks. Is it possible? Is it legal? I need to know.

Try to figure out a route using roads that have sidewalks. If you can't, then look for roads that aren't busy and walk on the far left (in the gutter and facing traffic). If you have to walk down a busy road and it doesn't seem safe to walk in the road, then walk on the lawns of the houses along the road. Try not to damage the grass too much.

As a rule, you walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic. Pay attention to the traffic around you. (Put the phone in your pocket.)

You'll figure it out.

Use your common sense. Don't do it if it seems dangerous.

Your options are more limited, but you can try riding a bicycle. I suspect that a lot of students at your new school do.

If you're 15 years old, surely your parents are somehow involved with how you get to school. Perhaps you can discuss this with them. And perhaps the school has school buses that pick up students from their homes and take them to school. The best way to find this out is to call the school -- and, yes, they're open during the summer.
