A chemical element has the same number of protons in their atomic nucleus, so the same atomic number.

Carbon has 6 Protons so the Element Carbon has an Atomic Number of 6, It can have 6, 7 or 8 neutrons. So the three isotopes occur naturally, 12C and 13C being stable, while 14C is a radioactive isotope,

There are 118 elements that have been identified, of which the first 94 occur naturally on Earth with the remaining 24 being synthetic elements.

1. A part or aspect of something abstract, especially one that is essential or characteristic.

2. Each of more than one hundred substances that cannot be chemically interconverted or broken down into simpler substances and are primary constituents of matter. Each element is distinguished by its atomic number, i.e., the number of protons in the nuclei of its atoms.

They are classified into metals ,non metals and metalloids. There are 118 elements present till now

An element is an atom of a species of something. For example an atom (simply put by made up of protons, neutrons, to make up the nucleus and electrons) is the simplest form of anything. For example, oxygen on its own is simply made up of 1 atom with 8 neutrons, 8 electrons and 8 protons. Everytime that an atom has 8 neutrons, protons and electrons 1 oxygen molecule is formed.
Summed up 1 atom of oxygen = 1 element. hope this helps

A substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances by chemical means. An element is composed of atoms that have the same atomic number; that is, each atom has the same number of protons in its nucleus as all other atoms of that element.
