How has Quebec remained French?

Quebec has been part of Canada for generations but has preserved a distinct French-Canadian identity with the language being used in mainstream and showing no sign of being dropped in favour of stand english. How has Quebec managed maintaining this while being part of Canada which largely speaks English while Wales for example has dropped its mother tongue in favour of English?

It's because of the conquest of the British, in the areas they speak English.

it be interesting if Canadian French dropped French as a favour to English rather then Wales would go extinct, but French will not be extinct as there is, already one in France where the language originally from
