What Happens After ROTC?
I am considering doing the Army ROTC in college and had some questions.
First, if I were to complete the program and be provided with the opportunity to be on active duty as a commissioned 2nd lt, what do I do exactly? As in will i be a 2nd lt of whatever branch i want to work in like intelligence or mp instead of a infantry/platoon leader? Thanks and sorry if I sound like I have no idea what im talking about.

After ROTC you will go to Basic Officer Leaders Course in your "chosen" (you get what you get) MOS. However, I believe INTEL (35) requires a branch assignment to a different field first. I'll have to check with my friends that branched intelligence but I believe one went FA and the other Infantry. After that become a sponge learn as much as you can from your Platoon Sergeant and Officers Sr to you. You'll do lots of signing, paperwork, memos, and op orders.
You would be an officer in whatever branch the Army assigns you. You make a top 10 list, but the Army is the one that decides.
You would have to attend BOLC I (and II, if applicable for the branch) after commissioning, which is basically the officer version of AIT to learn your job. And then you would be sent to a unit and assigned a duty position according to the unit's needs.
