HISTORY: difference between short term and long term impacts?

Magma is really hot, so I'd say that the Magma Carta had a very immediate effect on all those knights in metal armor. Probably just vaporised them right away.

It depends on your time frame but most would say it was a short term impact - people went to war over the changes. Long term would be all the legal consequences.

The dropping of the atomic bombs won the war against Japan in a matter of days short term impact but it started a dangerous nuclear arms race that is still on going long term impact.

Short term impact would be during the lifetime of those at the signing.
