How does someone get fired or resign as "founder" or "CEO" of a company like Travis Kalanick (Uber's founder and CEO)?

If you made a company, how on Earth do you say "I made this company, now I must quit or else something bad will happen to my profits"???????? You make a company and stick with it to make profits. At least, that's what my logic tells me.

Idk, I'm just confused why he would fire himself. Like, what kind of consequences does someone expect for staying within a company after saying a few cuss words?

I thought the exact same thing.

But of course he did it so his money could continue flowing in.

Shareholders rebelled against him and told him to step down or else they were selling off their stock in the country.

That's one of the drawbacks of going public.

The country is worth $70 billion dollars now and I'm sure he holds the majority of the stock.

So he's going to be alright, at least money-wise.

If your company becomes publicly traded then you no longer control 100% of it and must answer to a board of directors.

Once you do not own a majority of the shares the company owners can fire thr CEO.

Firing is easy - the board can vote to fire you.

Resigning - the board or stockholders can request that you step down.

Your logic is flawed. If a CEO does something stupid, it can affect profits for the company. If a CEO fails to keep the company profitable, someone else may need to step in.

Think about celeb endorsements. Anyone want Jello Pudding sold by Cosby? Or a rental care by OJ? Nikes endorsed by Ray Rice?

He sold shares. Meaning other people had a voice. Apparently enough to force his resignation.
