why are Catholics so pagan? using mantras, repetitive chants, non Biblical stuff, threaten their believers with death. statues, etc..?

When the Romans conquered the world, they allowed all the gods and ways to be a part of Rome so long as they worshiped Caesar. The Catholic organization is a result of this thinking and has incorporated all the pagan worship styles into their worship style. It is all wrong and not according to God. They make it fit, but it is still not worship in truth.

When the Christian religion was created, it was in the context of an empire with multiple cultures, religions and traditions. Christianity could not have spread to the rest of the empire without incorporating elements of these cultures such as the winter solstice celebrations which became Christmas, the idea of god being three entities in one, and a few other things like that.

But that's what religions normally do. If you think Protestantism is any different and doesn't deviate from what's written in the bible, you're fooling yourself.
You also have to consider that because something is not mentioned in the bible does not mean it cannot be done. Preaching on the internet isn't mentioned in the bible and a lot of protestants do it.

It's also very important to understand the position of the Catholic church and most protestant denominations about what the bible is supposed to be. They consider it's not supposed to be a literal account but a general guide with a lot of parables, metaphors and other symbolic stories.
And it was a good idea because interpreting the bible literally leads either to self contradictions or to contradict things we scientifically demonstrated.

I've never threatened anyone with a statue. But the thought of pummeling someone with a statue has a certain appeal whenever I visit Yahoo.

I suspect it's because they have deviated from the Word of God and introduced their own traditions. It's a form of control. While Jesus’ words in Mark 7:9 were directed towards the Pharisees, they accurately describe the Roman Catholic Church, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!”

2 Timothy 4:3 For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled. 4 They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories.

Matthew 15:8 ‘This people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far removed from me. 9 It is in vain that they keep worshipping me, for they teach commands of men as doctrines.’” 10 With that he called the crowd near and said to them: “Listen and get the sense of it: 11 It is not what enters into a man’s mouth that defiles him, but it is what comes out of his mouth that defiles him.”

The WHOLE Christian Religion is stagnated in a Religion about Jesus. Time to seek the religion OF Jesus.

Just about all Christian churches use pagan traditions and always have done.

The Catholic church is depicted as the whore of babylon in Revelations, deceiving many nations and turning people away from God. WIth their idol worship and false beliefs, no doubt about it.
