i'm not running my cards in sli or crossfire that would be stupid. i'm doing and i have done 2 gamers 1 cpu but my second gpu suddenly didnt want to get picked up
my second gpu shows up as a video controller (VGA compatible) in the device manger and windows freezes after like 3 mins?

ok so i have had this working on my pc before where i had my second gpu connected but now it doesnt seem to work same psu same everything my second gpu is a 7850 and the one i run in my system is a gtx 980 and i have a 600w psu wich is not the issue. any ideas?

If you put two Nvidia cards in SLI mode they both have to be from the same family of GPU otherwise a conflict occurs, and that results in the operating system loading incorrect drivers. If the BIOS is outdated it can cause issues as well
In short, you can't mix and match different cards like you with a AMD Crossfire setup

You run those at the same time. They must be from the same manufacterer, and be the same series. (ie. 900)

windows update got ya. search microsoft for fixes and ask, ask, ask in nvidia forums
