4x + 1 = 19 - 2x

The goal is to get the "x" on one side and the number on the other side.
Always do the same thing to both sides.

Add 2x to both sides
   4x + 1 = 19 - 2x
+ 2x                +2x
---------------------
   6x + 1 = 19

Subtract 1 from both sides
6x + 1 = 19
      - 1      -1
----------------
  6x       = 18

Divide both sides by 6
x = 3 <––––––

the old way but easier.
When a value changes sides, change the sign.

4x+1=19-2x

4x+2x = 19-1

6x = 18

x= 18/6 = 3

4x+1=19-2x

4x = 19-2x-1

4x = 18-2x
4x+2x=18

6x=18

X=18/6

X=3

4x+1=19-2x
4x+1-(19-2x)=0
6x-18=0
6x=18
x=18/6=3
