The so-called rebels want to destabilize the country and the region. They are political opponents of Assad. Some are former Army defectors, some are Islamists but they are funded by the U.S. to take power away from the legitimate Syrian president who has support of half his people, many of whom fled Syria 6 years ago. Bashir al Assad is the legitimate president of Syria. If he is put out, America will put in a puppet government or the Islamists will turn a secular country into a caliphate. If India gives in to American domination, they may be next.
