1. 你认为什么是素质教育?
2. 你上学的教育是什么样的呢?
3. 你觉得真正的教育是什么?
I am not here to answer your questions. I just fell that the three Chinese questions are too big to answer. Though it is understandable, but it is still kind of opaque, and it’s big enough to be an essay question. So I want to fine-tune and narrow this question a little to make its meaning clear, and I think, will help you answer the questions.
1. 你认为什么是素质教育?
Its translation, I think, is “What do you think the quality education is?”
Do you think the meaning of the above English question is clear enough?
How about “What are considered to be the basic requirements of a quality education”. Does it clear than the before?
If you agree, your Chinese question should be rewritten to “你认为什么是素质教育的要件?
Any way, if your Chinese question make no change, you try to answer your question in that direction.
2. 你上学的教育是什么样的呢?
Its translation, I think, is “What is your schooling like”?
You could focus on what characters your schools have? Any regulations you must follow. Compared with other schools, what kinds of curriculums you do have or you don’t have. Personally I admire Western education, your answer, if you could write in Chinese, would be an attractive answer.
3. 你觉得真正的教育是什么?
Its translation, I think, is “What is the essentiality of education”?
Do you catch the meaning? For me, I think it’s too vague, I can’t catch the meaning. So I would like to fine tune this Chinese sentence to “你觉得學校教育的真正目的是什么?” At least, I think that help make the question to materialize and let answerer know in which way the answer should go.
Oh, Its translation is “What is the main purpose of (school)
education?”.
Of course, you know a lot about this question. And I also mean,
you don’t have to change the “Chinese question”, but answer
your question focusing on “purposes”, that will make the
question easier to be answered.
Final, my English writing is poor, but with continuing practice I
know I can make a progress in English. And of course, you can too in Chinese.
Ps: “素質” is a term that is understandable here in Taiwan. But actually it is seldom used to descript the quality of education system.
