live wires of thermostat?
the heating and cooling thermostat has to be plugged in the wall outlet in order to work.
i want to replace the thermostat, so if i just unplug it, will those wires inside the wall for the thermostat also be cut off the electricity?

Usually it is fed by a 24 volt transformer on a circuit board in the furnace. Normally 24v is not enough feel, but it is possible to damage the board if you don't switch off the furnace power.
The electricity for the thermostat is only 12 volts and it comes from a small transformer in the air handling unit of the furnace. To turn off that electricity you need to turn off the breaker for the furnace.
