What happened to the McDonalds Crew?

Removed to promote the new "I'm loving it" campaign. At some point, McDonalds decided to move away from the children's market to being more upscale. this is why many McDonalds stores have removed the play areas and have had the makeovers that give the restaurants a more upscale look to them.

Looking a bit like a Starbucks in some cases.

McDonald's used to be marketed at kids but they stopped doing that BS when they realised adults have more disposable income than kids.
