Should we do away with the whole "illegal immigration" thing?

Liberals don't like it and they make up the whole population. It's obviously more important that we use our nations resources to cater to those in need.

(Excessive) immigration is a problem for most western countries -- so politically and socially it has to be addressed .
The problem is that it has been allowed to reach a state whereby the likes of Trump think that the only way to deal with this "problematical nut" is to use a hammer .
And it isn't .
I suspect most Democrats would accept controls which significantly limit the numbers of future immigrants and even removes some already here -- unfortunately , Trump and his supporters seem to have identified the issue as a sign of their "masculinity".

How about a better idea?
Close the borders - sort your crap out - then, when it is finally sorted, (the hungry, the homeless, sick etc) start allowing immigrants again in an orderly fashion
