I loved living at the beach when I was in Panama City Beach, FL. My house was directly across the street from the beach with great views out over the Gulf of Mexico from my deck. You do have to accept the traffic and crowds during beach season.
There's going to be sand in your life, and in your house, no matter how well or often you clean. Anything metal--including big-ticket items like kitchen appliances and cars--will rust out far quicker. Tourists will get in the way of doing the things you need to do, clogging roads and restaurants, holding noisy parties, filling beaches.
