At what point am I meant to see a doctor about my foot?

I went to a theme park about 10 days ago and one of the rides hit the back of my foot. I can now stand on it without shoes but any pressure on the back and it hurts a lot so I can't wear shoes. A few days later is bruised up but went down almost immidietely. Kinda feels like the back of my foot has been cut right open. At what point does it stop being just an ache that can be avoided before I have to see a doctor (if you get what I mean- I don't want to go if it's just a weird bruise)

That point passed about a week ago. If you were unable to put weight on your foot for several days and still cannot tolerate the pain of a shoe, you'd done something major to your foot, and you owe it to yourself to get proper medical care. If money is an issue, don't go to the ER, call a normal doctor or try to get in to see an orthopedic surgeon or podiatrist -- both of whom are better qualified to assess the injury.

Have it X-rayed or something to find out what happened. Go to a walk in clinic they are cheaper.
