I'm my humblest opinion we Wiccans do whatever we want and we don't out other people down(well most of us anyways).

I wouldn't say ALL Christians nor clergy believe Wiccans are bad (I know some pretty open minded Christians AND clergy). But the ones who do, either misinterpret or take too literally their liturgy. OR...they follow the word of people who have little to zero knowledge on the subject, and basically repeat it ad nauseum. The problem is, these Christians believe their religion is somehow "true", when the fact is, there's no such thing as a "true" religion in which ALL must follow. If that were the case, everyone would be Christian (or other religion that was intended to be "true").

Wicca is harmless. In fact one of its basic tenents is "An it harm none, do as thou will". Which more or less means to be responsible for what you do, and if you do something that harms someone or damages something, accept the consequences; own up to it. Some Christians only believe its bad because Wiccans don't acknowledge Jesus or the Christian God. That kind of logic is like saying Christianity is bad because it doesn't acknowledge Zeus.

For the record, Wiccans dont "do what ever [they] want". In regards to spirituality, Wicca DOES have structure...but its flexible. Certain elements are required for it to maintain being Wicca.

Christianity is a religion that feels it is in competition with all others... Christians think there is 'one true way', and of course, all Christians believe their own denomination/interpretation of Christianity is it.

Wiccans, of course, believe differently. We don't worship the Christian God, we don't think he is the be-all end-all most highest grand pooh-bah God, we don't believe in the Christian world view of the universe (that their God set up a place of eternal reward and eternal torture, and you need to believe in the right thing to escape the torture).

Most Christians (depending on denomination) believe that what you believe is more important than how you actually behave. It doesn't matter if you're a very good loving person who contributes a great deal of positive things to society; if you don't believe the right thing, you are 'bad' and you go to that eternal torture.

So basically, they see things in black and white; you're either 'saved' or not. If you're not, it means you don't accept their God/world view/savior. Which in Christian beliefs, is bad. So by default, some think that makes you bad.

And naturally they believe anything that takes one away from Christianity, such as the religion of Wicca, is bad (according to the beliefs of many Christians).

But as a Wiccan, I know that's all nonsense and they're wrong, so I don't really worry about the silly notions of small-minded people. Sometimes they mean well. They're scared for us; they believe their God is egocentric and vicious and has the power to torture us forever. They really believe that, and it makes them worry.

Strictly competition. If people find meaning and happiness outside the Christian church it means the church isn't necessary.
