Yup. Everything can be tracked, some ways are just tougher than others. Even VPN can be tracked, if the tracking party is interested enough in catching you.

You can be tracked by the service yes and if suspected having done something illegal the user can be reported to authorities. If you would like to learn how to create your own vpn server watch this video:

There are some "entertainment" sources that are monitoring download sites such as Pirate's Bay for downloads of their protected materials. (I understand that attempted downloads of "Sun Records" episodes will get you tracked and your ISP contacted.) It doesn't matter what typ of VPN you use, your ISP has to be able to see you, or it will not allow your computer onto the internet. Your ISP may allow you to go through a VPN from there, but the trail can still be pinged by the proper software. All the VPN does is hide you from direct scrutiny, but dedicated pings will follow the full path back to your ISP and they will recognize your IP. (The packets must be able to travel to and from your computer, or you would not be able to download from the site.)

it is possible as i will not say what kind of content media exactly but some movies and other media files in rare cases have been tracked before and on rare occasions some have even been caught by the law.

there was a story years back about a certain pornographic video that i think was a parody of something or other and the story is that someway... somehow... those people got tracked for downloading it and did have to face legal trouble.

even that and such things as allot of the file sharing programs from way back in the day that used to exist have had stories such as there was a mom someplace that was downloading some kind of music and somehow did get caught and had to pay a hefty fine.

also

there was another file sharing program called limewire i think that was popular way abck when. a judge on the east coast somewhere did eventually force that person that ran it to shut it down or face legal action or so the story goes.

the point is that the government tracks piratebay and other places where you can get free content you were not meant to get for free.

i think the inventor of piratebay even at one time had to face some kind of legal trouble at one point in time.

some education on how the internet works

you send a "package" of information (like a letter)
as far as you are concerned the important bits of this are
1) the IP address of the sender (you)
2) the MAC number of the sender (this is unique and is fixed in the senders network adapter hardware)
3) the IP address its being sent to (pirate bay)
4) the data being sent (your request to download)

the ONLY bit of this encrypted by VPN is 4)

and the fact that its encrypted rings alarm bells to anybody monitoring

then ALL they gotta do is look for the IP address of pirate bay (which they will know), and they will know from 1) 2) or 3) who YOU are
Then all they gotta do is contact your ISP (the IP address witl tell them that) and they can track YOU to your door , cos only YOU will have that IP address and only YOUR equipment will have the corresponding MAC number

Stay off of piratebay and Utorrent. Basically now your computer botnet that can be used to attack government servers, and they can track it straight to you. Free stuff comes at a cost. That's only if the person who uploaded the file wants to do this, but you should really reset your computer.

It depends on the proxy. A proxy does not necessarily hide the client and even if it does, it may still keep logs of its connections for its own security.

If it hides what you do behind it, it becomes responsible for what is being done. This is one good reason for them to keep a record of it. Note that even if the proxy server itself does not keep track of that information, its ISP might (and probably does).

Normally, services that properly anonymize what you do are located in countries where there are little or no legal control of what is done on the Internet. Because of this, these will most likely offer the service to track what you do and send on the connection for their own benefit. Why else would anyone spend money on giving you that service?

It's really your choice whether you want to protect yourself from the police or from the bandits. The same principles apply to VPN connections.

It totally depends on which VPN service you use while downloading torrents. If you use a FREE VPN or any VPN which is not secure enough to protect your online information, then Yes, you might get caught.

If you want to download torrents anonymous you need a reliable and optimized VPN for Torrenting.

Now you have Two options;

Free VPNs =Not Secure, Not Anonymous, Can Help Unblocking the Torrenting Websites

OR

Anonymous Torrent VPN=Secure, Anonymous, Unblocks and Provides Anonymity while Downloading Torrents

Honestly speaking, no FREE VPNs can provide you anonymity while downloading torrents, because they are not capable of hiding your real IP address

The short answer is no. The real answer is yes, if they take the time to bother. Also ask yourself this; who owns the proxy and were does his or her loyalties lie.

The CIA can track you. But the CIA is not interested in people using Pirate Bay.

The problem is a proxy does nothing to keep the North Korean malware off your computer.

Ok just for curiosity what are the chances of being caught when downloading stuff from pirate bay like out of 10 company's how many would make the effort to find out who is pirating there programs?
2017-04-20 7:03 am
You can still be tracked, but in general you have to draw attention to yourself before the lawyers start sending you nastygrams.

You wont be caught at all unless you're downloading multiple things a day.
