It would have helped to know your budget.For the females in my family, "really special" generally means a jewelry item of such quality and classic style that it could be worn all of one's adult life. It can be expensive, but it does not have to be. How about a necklace, ring, or other jewelry item?
I've done very well at Etsy.com, where you can find things for every budget.
