Please don't listen to the other answers in this question thread. The first thing I would ask is if you have ever had any type of major cut or simply any piercing. If the answer is yes and you didn't have a keloid then you are fine. A keloid is am extremely large scar that grows and grows like a huge tumor that has to be surgically removed and supressed. A regular scar or raised anything is not a keloid. Second those of African descent are far more likely to keloid although it is still rare. What I would do in your situation is to suggest getting a very very small tattoo. Something like a quarter to half an inch. Especially if keloids run in your family a small 18g piercing will also produce the same results. Keep it small and approach delicately. I hear this term thrown around a lot in my line of work but most people use it incorrectly to describe a regular raised scar that could occur on anyone. Again keloids are huge growths not a little bump or raised skin where a tattoo line was.
