Am I screwed for calc 1?
I'm taking precalc and I learned they assume we have taken trig and I haven't. I'm taking calc 1 this summer. I'm doing well in my precalc class. If I teach myself trig during the 3 week break before the start of my summer semester, will I be ok? The trig chapters are in my precalc book. I have a slight background in trig from geometry in high school and teaching myself some preparing for precalc. As long as I have the basic ideas, will I be ok? Just a little more work?

It can be done, but it will take some serious work. First-term calculus courses I have seen do assume an understanding of trigonometry, including fundamental identities, angle sum formulas, double-angle formulas, and properties of trigonometric graphs.
You will have to keep catching up as the term progresses. Typically they start with simple properties at first, but it will get harder as the term progresses. You probably have plans for a second term, and by then you will be expected to have a strong foundation in trigonometry.
I wish I could recommend some reading, as Mr Queen Sir did. Looking through my bookcase, it appears that my trigonometry reference material is older than most calculus students. You would never find it in print.
Trigonometry is a part of Pre-Calculus... Also I can recommend some books. Pick up Trigonometry by mckeague and Trigonometry by lial. I love them :D
Also calculus can be rigorous. It really depends on your textbook. Also I recommend not only studying trigonometry, but pick up an applied calculus book that assumes only knowledge of algebra. This will help you introduce you to calculus concepts. Pick up Calculus with Applications by Lial....it's a fun lil book :)
If you need more advice just comment on answer good luck to u
You need a strong background in both algebra and trig to survive calc 1. You may be able to do it, but it will be hard work. You also need a solid understanding of both. Make sure you devote enough time to your review of trig to become very familiar with it. You will need to master trig to the point where you will not slow down while wondering what to do. I do not recommend it.
For learning it that fast, hire a tutor to push you thru.
