How to reset your forgotten password on Xbox live?

It's not letting me change my password with the web browser, is there another way?

Use your PC to go to xbox.com and click "Forgot password."

This will email you a link that will let you enter a new password.

you might be able to do it though the console.

I figured it out. Some how two-step verification had been turned on and I had to use an app password
