Wine goes bad soon after opening because the ethanol CH3CH2OH in it reacts with oxygen gas O2 from the air to form water H2O and acetic acid (CH3COOH), the main ingredient of vinegar.

Molar mass of oxygen gas (O₂) = 16.0 × 2 g/mol = 32.0 g/mol
Number of moles of O₂ reacted = (3.35 g) / (32.0 g/mol) = 3.35/32.0 mol

The reaction between ethanol and oxygen :
CH₃CH₂OH + O₂ → CH₃COOH + H₂O
Mole ratio CH₃CH₂OH : O₂ = 1 : 1
Hence, number of moles of CH₃CH₂OH reacted = (3.35/32.0 mol) × 1 = 3.35/32.0 mol

Molar mass of CH₃CH₂OH = (12.0×2 + 1.0×6 + 16.0) g/mol = 46 g/mol
Mass of CH₃CH₂OH reacted = (3.35/32.0 mol) × (46 g/mol) = 4.82 g
