I've been reading up on the Nazi's and found that Nazi stands for National Socialist German Workers Party. I thought the Nazi's were fascist?

If they are both true what is the distinction if there is one and what does this mean for Bernie Sanders?

You have a lot more reading to do.

Post 1933, the Nazis were fascists. Prior to 1933, they were socialists.
In 1933, following Hitler's rise to the top of German government, Hitler ordered the assassination of all the top socialist leaders in the Nazi Party ... i.e. The Germans of WWII that everyone thinks of when they hear the term Nazis were fascists, not socialists. Hitler's fascists hunted and killed socialists and communists among others ... like the Jews.
Political Parties change over time ... For example, Unlike today, the Republican Party in Lincoln's day was predominantly a liberal party while the Democratic Party was predominantly conservative. And, prior to the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964, Southern blacks voted Republican while Southern whites voted Democrat ... the opposite of what we see today.

You should do more reading on this subject.
Here's a video on fascism from a series produced by a History teacher ("HipHughes History" found on YouTube)
and a few "articles" to consider:

Do you know who Will Rogers was? Will Rogers used to have this riddle: Q: How many legs does a dog have if you call his tail a leg? A: Still only four. Because calling it a tail don't make it one.

Nazis called themselves 'National Socialists' but they were not socialists at all, they were fascists. If you don't know the difference between socialism and fascism then I'd suggest you need to do a little more reading.

Look what the last president of the US did and compare it to the Nazi's and you will find many similarities, such as spying on citizens, nationalizing healthcare, gun confiscation (they keep trying), thought and speech police...it's quite scary.

If what you say is true, I don't think Bernie is a German, so he's not allowed to be a Nazi, by definition. I guess I'm not understanding the implication.

IT’S JUST A COZY NAME

North Korea, one of the sh\ttiest and most oppressive
countries in the world at this time is actually named
Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

The Nazis were not socialists.

I'm glad you researched it for yourself. Too many people just spew crap they "think" they know. All that causes is trouble. Mussolini was a Fascist. Sanders is a Socialist. The problem with Socialism is it only works until you run out of other people's money. FWIW, I lived in Germany for 9 years.

It means nothing for Sanders.

The Nazis were not socialists. They just used the word (incorrectly).

Nazis were the original liberals. Today's liberal have borrowed many of their tactics.

Sanders is a communist Jew
