The independent variable is the type of fabric.

There is NO "dependent" variable. This is a pure observation : does it burn or doesn't it. You cannot draw a graph to predict whether something is flammable or not. You can only observe what happens.

Independent: How you set it on fire. Dependent: How well or poorly it burns.
