When writing the noble gas short hand configuration for an element in Period n, it corresponds to the noble gas in Period (n - 1).

For example, Mo is an element in Period 5, and thus it corresponds to the noble as in Period 4, i.e. [Kr].

One more example, W is an element in Period 6, and thus it corresponds to the noble gas in Period 5, i.e. [Xe].
