Are the US Marines better than the US Army?

The U.S. Marines do their job, the U.S. Army does theirs. They are 2 completely different branches of the Military Service with different functions. And, they both do their jobs, equally well.

They have different functions.

They are both damaging

marines are tougher..they train harder..they are the first wave bada$$es, they are whats known as the grunts

Marines are tough but a lot of them are just full of themselves. Marines spend too much time on advertising and selling the IDEA of being a Marine. Thats why most Marines in my opinion are either douche bags or kids who were once skinny punks that just wanted to become a MAN and thought being a Marine would get them there.

The Army on the other hand is full of kids who are genuinely interested in the military.

When it comes down to it the Army has better funding, training and everything. In an actual war Marines are the grunts, Army is whose getting the job done. Thats why we respect the Marines so much though.

Ultimately no branch is better than the other. They all need each other. It just depends what you want to do.


Any vet will probably dislike this answer though. As the other guys mentioned, they are 2 different groups doing different things. Its comparing apples to oranges. The way i see it, if you've scene combat or directly helped those in combat you got my respect. If you haven't then you're just doing a job and deserve no more respect than a road construction worker. Not knocking them.

The Army is bigger than the Marines, but the Marines are considered an elite branch, with extra training and higher expectations.
