do you have to bleed fuel system if you disconnect the pipes/hoses from top of fuel filter ?

I have a ford focus sport 1.8 TDCI. I was replacing the cylinder head temp sensor on my car today, in doing so I had to remove the fuel filter out the way, to do that I had to remove the pipes/hoses that was clipped onto it, however I did not open the fuel filter housing itself.

The car manual does not mention needing to bleed the system, just reads to unclip hoses off filter and move filter to one side.

the shop have sent me the wrong sensor so I won't be able to start up the car until tomorrow anyway.

do you think it will be a case of just putting everything back together or do you think the fuel will need bleeding ?

thanks

Should just go back together. You may want to turn the key on 'on ' or 'run' for a few seconds before actually going to 'start' . This will give the fuel pump a chance to pump the fuel all the way through the line, if it all drained while apart.
But I am betting that it starts up right away.

The turbo charged diesel has auto bleed. Reconnect the lines and cycle the ignition on for 5 seconds, off for 5 seconds three or four times before starting.
