Remove vehicle chip key requirement?

I own a chrysler 2005 town and country. This vehicle has a chip key required to start the engine. I would like to disable this feature so that regular keys can be used to start the engine.

What is the process to disable the vehicles chip key requirement?

I found a fix that suits me. I dont care about the security aspect. If someone is going to steal a car, they are going to steal it. Plus my van is not worth the time of day for someone to steal anyways. I had 2 transponder keys, and lost one. Now i am worried that i am going to at some point lose the other. And there is not way in hell i am paying the dealer to make a new one. Especially since i dont care about the security of it.

I found a couple of fixes. i can either take the electronic component out of the transponder key itself and stick it to the ignition, or simply just tape the transponder key near the ignition, and just use regular $3 keys to unlock the doors, and start the van. I havent tried these options that worked on youtube vids from other cars.....Worst case scenario ill gorilla glue the transponder key in the ignition and that will be it. My end goal is to never have to buy a key from the dealer.

There is a very simple way.
You simply tape the chip from a key under the column shroud by the ignition so it sees the chip all the time.
You need to tell yiur insurance yiu have done this as they will probably remove theft cover.

As Timbo says, you can't do it just like that. The security system is built into the vehicle electronics especially to prevent it being easily tampered with. It would be pointless otherwise, wouldn't it?

Doubtless it CAN be done if you find someone who really understands the electrical and electronic systems and are prepared to pay, but I wouldn't bother if I were you.

Most people decide to try this as the chip in key system is giving problems. To bypass the system will cost more than fixing the system so that it works correctly. It is made this way with integration into the vehicles electronics to make it the credible theft deterrent that it is.
Someone somewhere may know the process but it will be complex and require much rewiring, time and knowledge and they all cost money.

About the only way to do it would be to replace the engine computer with an aftermarket model. I take it you don't want to pay someone $200 for a new key, but that's probably what you need to do. One you have 2 working keys, you can buy and program more yourself for a few bucks.

That would take a lot of money likely more than what your car is worth and you will likely find nobody that will or can do it. I know the dealers will not.
