Should I give my mom an extra $60 to help out with the insurance bill?

I pay her $400 a month to live with her, she pays rent on a really nice 3 bedroom townhouse and I get the other 2 bedrooms in a nice neaighbourhood in the Bay Area of California. She pays most of the bills since she makes over 6 figures and I work full time at $11 an hour. Do you think I should help her out by tossing her $60 for this months insurance bill on top of the $50 I already pay, the bill usually comes out to around $200. She's already helping me out so much. What do you think?

$400 in the Bay Area is dirt cheap. 6 figures in the Bay Area is not rich by any means depending on what city you're talking about.

She may not want your money. Do you know she needs it? She may be wanting you to learn to budget (thus charging you rent), but also wants you to make sure you are saving so that you can work towards moving out.

Have you considered asking her?

What kind of insurance? Auto insurance? Why wouldn't you pay 100% of the insurance for the car that you drive?

Or maybe you mean renter's insurance. Or homeowner's insurance. Or medical insurance. Who knows.

Doesn't hurt to offer it. She will likely appreciate it.
