My friend slurps her food (at boiling point) but I cannot, I end up with a blister or the burning feeling. How do they work up to this tolerable temperature?

Sometimes, you see us drink a seemingly boiling water, we puff the surface of the hot water to let it cool down quickly, then we just sip a little on the surface. And it is true most Chinese prefer hot water than cold water, because we’re trained to do so after being born.

I guess they did it so much, they caused nerve damage and now can't feel it nearly as much. Doesn't sound like a real good idea to me.
