I'm asked to explain which method of solving polynomial equations will not identify the imaginary roots, I was wondering if 1i√3 is a imaginary root.

If a polynomial equation has rational roots, then you can use the factoring method. But the factoring method isn't very good for finding imaginary roots.
For finding imaginary roots, either use the quadratic formula or completing the square.
