Yes I am, I've been a wall cleaner for "Big Earl's Goldmine" here in Des Moines, Iowa for over 5 years, and I still make the exact same amount of money that I made when I started at $13 an hour.

No, the exact opposite.

I do a very easy job that my clients and employers believe is far more demanding than it really is.

Since I get so many compliments from our clients, my boss and HR department never bother to carry out actual employee appraisals, so I keep getting pay rises every year, regardless of my actual performance.

Not really underpaid, but definitely underappreciated.
Underappreciation however is a tactic employers use when they have a friend who wants your job, they feel you don't deserve your job/pay, they also see your potential to rise. So they don't show appreciating in hopes that you'll be hurt and leave.

If you really need to feel appreciation, get it outside of work and continue collecting your paycheck. Also make sure to come to work often to make their stomachs turn, hopefully they'll get an ulcer.
Getting more education and rising through the ranks will make them have a heart attack, when they do sign the supathy card and pay a visit to them when they are in the hospital.

Take care.
