functional capacity evaluation to measure disability--why won't the therapist let me split it into 2 shorter days instead of 1 long day?

are there valid medical reasons or is he just doing what's best for himself? i asked to split the test into two days so that the pain doesn't get as bad but he is unwilling to which I think is unreasonable and poor patient-based care.
