How do I keep the blade from bending when using a jigsaw?

Cutting a 12" circle with a circle jig. The blade bends outward away from the circle. Why is the blade doing that?

sometimes the blade breaks

Because your pushing it to hard, plus what size plywood are you trying to cut,

Hopefully, you a decent quality jigsaw.....
1. Adjust the rake angle of the blade so the top of the blade cuts the material first.
2. Use a blade with a wide offset.
3. Adjust the reciprocating speed to as low as possible.
4. Cut slowly- don't try to force the blade through the material.

Typically because you're holding it at an angle or you're pushing too fast.

Be sure the foot-plate is level and tightened securely ==== do not push the saw - just allow the saw to do the work and run the saw on high speed ========== Lots of pressure on and electric bench tool will bend the motor shaft and cause your tool to wobble and not run straight -- again, let the tool do the work ................

Slow down and use a lower tooth per inch blade

If available use a table saw.Videos on UTube. OR Use sharp blades. I usually use large tooth blades .

You need a reciprocating saw blade with a wider tooth cutting kerf so it wont bind up as you cut the tight arc angle you wish, this will be easier on a scroll saw in thin material. If you are cutting a 12 inch insulated flue roof vent or speaker cabinet face hole, make many 1" hole saw ports on the inside of the marked 12 inch hole and use a rough tooth sawsall or jigsaw blade to connect the dots. By purposely over cutting the groove inward, you can back up and shave the hole clean on the line a bit at a time slowly as you go to chunk out the binding part through the the hole saw ports if needed.

Depending on how hard the material you are cutting is, you have to control the feed rate so it doesn't bend to the point it affects the work piece. All blades bend when cutting. If you increase the feed rate beyond what the blade can handle, it will affect the final work.
Something I have learned, let the tool do the work. you just guide it

Try using a thinner "larger toothed" blade. Most blades are about 3/8 inches thick. Get a blade that is about 3/16 inches thick. OR get a table jig saw (scroll saw) that has the blade attached on either end of the blade!
