CaO and NaOH do not react.

A mixture of CaO and NaOH is often used in laboratory to remove carbon dioxide. This mixture is known as “soda lime”.

Treating calcium oxide with aqueous NaOH is the basis for the manufacture of soda lime a base used extensively in industrial applications Eg in air purifiers.
