Why do the 3 musketeers have an image of a cavalier when they should look like a roundhead since they are against the king?

i came across the cavalier's and roundhead's in my school recently and i thought of the 3 musketeers and remembered them fighting some king. I never read the book so i didnt know some of the details. Thanks for the info guys, and tham153 you should probably change your name to spam. Appreciate the insightful info.

They're entirely FOR the King. And the Queen. And against the Cardinal.

The Musketeers in Dumas' novel were French. Nothing to do with the English Civil War. And they fought FOR the king of France - not against him.

Actually, in most stories they're *for* the monarchy and fighting the forces that are trying to topple it.

Because they're in disguise. Yes, they're roundheads who idolise their hero Thomas Cromwell, but they have to dress up as cavaliers in order to defeat Thomas More and his deadly Cardinal army.
