Im a relitively new driver. So today I accidentally scraped someones car with my vehicle. I under estimated how close I was to it before I turned in to park in front of it ( very narrow street due to cars double parking and a car coming towards me). My back end didnt quite make it. They wasnt occupying the car so I knocked on doors to try find the owner, I left a note on the window screen. Went away and came back to the car and waited for the owner to return. I apologised deeply and I offered to pay them there and then, I took his details and he took mine.

I'm uncertain really if he wants to claim on insurance he seemed like it wasnt a big issue as its not a major problem and his car was old he said.

I would at least like to offer him something. I just dont know what range I should offer him. ( I took a photo of the damaged caused)

Brace yourself. Virtually ANY body damage repair starts at at least $1000 and go way up from there.

You don't offer anything. They get a quote for having it fixed and you or your insurance company pays it.

Then call into a garage show them the picture and ask what it would cost, base it on that............. I highly commend you for facing up to your mistake, too many people would drive away and take no responsibility

Let them get a repair estimate, and then you could take cover that estimate. For a relatively new driver, you are demonstrating a good command of responsibility and ownership.
