Are retail estate agents offer free listing or do they charge just to talk to?

We have a multiple listing service. As an agent member of that service I can show and sell any of those listings and get paid a portion of the commission that the seller has committed to pay. The buyer does not have to pay their agent even if the agent only represent the buyer and not the seller.

They don't charge just to talk to. The listing is generally free, but you sign a contract to pay them a ccommisssion if it sells
