How do I get my money after being scammed online?

On PayPal I sold a phone and got a fake email that confirmed a fake payment so I shipped it out without realizing it was a scam. I have their address and name and I know they got the package so how do I get my money. Do I call the non emergency police line or should I try something else. PayPal says that it isn't their problem because they didn't send the email.

You can't do anything but file a police report. You never trust emails When selling anything using Paypal you don't send the item until you go to Paypal.com and see that the money is IN your account.

non emergency police -- you'll be told to come in and file a complaint

I have used PayPal many times over the past 10 years and what you're saying doesn't add up. Once the buyer sends the payment, the money is in my account. Once I have the money, I send out the item. If you have paypal and used it to make the transaction, they will pursue reports of fraud.

Pretty sure you could file a claim through PayPal. If not call the buyers local police and yours. Probably your only two options. Being in quite a few BST groups, I ve see this happen countless times.

Better Business Bureau or Attorney General Office in your State.
