What boxes on the 1099-G had numbers or check marks in them, and where did you report the income on your return?

Edit: OK, thought that 1099-G was odd. At any rate, still need to know what boxes on the 1099-MISC and how you reported it on your return.

I am guessing you did something wrong. The money received on form 1099G is not earned income and not subject to self-employment tax. If you entered it as earned income, your refund may increase.

If you checked a box on your software that indicated this was earned income or that it was subject to SE tax, that is a type of error that would generate an inaccurate refund.

What other income do you have? If you get EIC it's possible it's correct but unusual.

We can't tell without looking at the return.
