Oil rig worker question?

I want to get into the field since I've been rejected from the army air force and navy and Google says $80k-$100k a year. The reason I have questions is all the info is from 5-6 years ago and the jobs listed online start at $18 an hour. You'd have to work every day of the year for $18 an hour to equal $100k a year. I currently work 12 hour days at a pretty physical job so I'm pretty confident Id be able to do the job. Does anyone have experience in this field?

Have you contacted the Oil Companies direct and looked at their vacancies --- if there are any. This industry is in a downturn all over the world, I live in the UK and there have been 100s of redundancies.

Learn what the job entails first before you decide if it's for you or not. See this list of oil related jobs to get more information about them, http://bitly.com/YuztyB .
