chem question?
Nitrogen molecule and NO is one of the gases that is responsible for a mould it is produced in various ways one of which is during the combustion of ammonia. If 25.0 L of ammonia reacts with sufficient oxygen at 102 kPa of 23 degrees celsius what mass of nitrogen monoxide will be produced?
回答 (1)
For NH₃ reacted:
Pressure, P = 102 kPa
Volume, V = 25.0 L
No. of moles, n = ? mol
Gas constant, R = 8.314 J / (mol K)
Absolute temperature, T = (273 + 23) K = 300 K
PV = nRT
Then, n = PV/(RT)
No. of moles of NH₃ reacted, n = 102 × 25.0 / (8.314 × 300) mol = 1.022 mol
Equation for the reaction:
4NH₃ + 5O₂ → 4NO + 6H₂O
OR: Mole ration NH₃ : NO = 4 : 4 = 1 : 1
No. of moles of NO produced = No. of moles of NH₃ reacted = 1.022 mol
Molar mass of NO = (14.0 + 16.0) g/mol = 30.0 g/mol
Mass of NO produced = (1.022 mol) × (30.0 g/mol) = 30.7 g
