Are petty first world problems with our capitalistic ideology actually worse than some problems faced in third world countries?

Yes, the issues faced by the rest of the world are far more severe but let me explain. In a capitalist society we are conditioned to believe that we can do better, that we always deserve the best. But because we are taught that way we are always left wanting more. Even those who have all they could ask for often find themselves feeling unfulfilled. There is no place for contentment. Thus, many people are left suffering from depression because no matter how hard they try in the end they are told they still aren't doing good enough. However, it appears that in many third world countries where they have not adopted this ideology the people are often more capable of being happy. They don't need to have new things or a lot of money because they are content with just surviving. It really comes down to one is facing internal conflicts while the other external.

It's not so much a question of capitalism as perception of differing situations tailored by upbringing. Those brought up to expect nothing will be content with nothing, and over the moon should good come their way. Those brought up spoiled have high expectations, and when these aren't achievable - depression and the likes can ensue.

Its not capitalisms fault. If anything its just 'progresses' fault. Capitalism is just the idea that youre on your own and can make as much or as little as you want, everything is fair.

I would find it far worse to be in a country where they cut off girls clits and make then live like pets. Or in a country where i literally eat dirt for breakfast. Or maybe someplace where i have militia groups looking to kill me and my family, EVERYDAY. ..Than to be depressed because i dont have any friends to party with me on my yacht..

I think you are absolutely deathly wrong. I think western children are taught to not care about material things, to care about the people behind the things - and then they are inundated with things and the message gets contradicted. So they learn that they "shouldn't" be materialistic but they end up being materialistic. They long for something more because they are TAUGHT to devalue materialism.

At the bottom of it, westerners suffer from the disease of having too much time to consider how happy or unhappy they are. All of which is no reflection on how happy or unhappy third world people are in comparison. I don't think third world people are a monolith. Westerners are more alike than other groups because materialism has a homogenizing effect.
