Why do some people say that IQ tests don't measure intelligence accurately?

IQ tests tend to just measure one or two types of intelligence. There are many types of intelligence. My wife would be considered really dumb if judged purely by the standard IQ test, but she has an MA. Thankfully, I have the type of intelligence that the IQ tests test for (among others) - so I am rightfully shown to be a genius. ;-)

If an IQ test was administered in an uncontrolled environment (i.e. not a testing facility with no distractions), or if you were sick or hadn't gotten proper sleep the score could be inaccurate.
I've also heard that it's very narrow and doesn't necessarily measure what it intends to. It's a controversial subject though and I don't know what is or isn't correct.
