Why can't my earring go in?

I got my ears pierced almost 6 weeks back, and today I took them out for the first time to change them. One of my holes is red, so i put alcohol on it and let it rest for a couple hours. I tried putting new earrings in, but it won't go in the hole. Why?

They have already closed up.
A lobe piercing takes 2 - 3 months to fully heal when done properly with a needle, 3 - 4 months when done with a gun. You tried to change them too early, and they instantly closed up because you didn't leave the jewelry in the entire healing time.

You're doing it all wrong, never put alcohol on your piercing, especially if they haven't fully recovered. Your lobe piercing has probably closed up and you'll have to let it heal and re-pierce them again if you want the lobe piercing.

Because lobe piercings take at least 3 months to fully heal, and yours haven't healed yet.
