An aerosol can is empty, except for the propellant gas which exerts a pressure of 1.20 atm at 21 °C. If the can is thrown into a fire and heated to a temperature of 565 °C, what will be the pressure inside the hot can?

✔ 最佳答案
(p1)/(T1) = (p2)/(T2)
(1.20 atm)/(21 273K) = (p2)/(565 273K)
p2 = 3.42 atm

Before putting the can into fire: P₁ = 1.20 atm, T₁ = (273 + 21) K = 294 K
When putting the can into fire: P₂ = ? atm, T₂ = (273 + 565) K = 838 K

For a fixed amount of gas in constant volume: P₁/T₁ = P₂/T₂
Then, P₂ = P₁ × (T₂/T₁)

Pressure inside the hot can, P₂ = (1.20 atm) × (838/294) = 3.42 atm
