zero conditions - give facts.
If you put ice under the sun, it melts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~
present tense present tense
FACTS
first conditional - possible results(think about like >85% it will happen)
If it is not raining, we will go hiking. <----- It is not a truth. May be you are sick or something like that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
present tense future tense

POSSIBLE results

second conditional - unreal, probably will not happen (<5% that it will happen)

If I were you, I would go to hike. (I won't be you right? Right?)
~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
past tense would/could + infinitive
That's my explanation. If you think this is good, please like this :D
